Joy Casteen
Board Member

Joy has been a part of the BSRI Board of Directors since 2016. She says the best part of being a board member is knowing you are making a difference in the lives of seniors.
Joy is a North Carolina girl and grew up on the waterway at Ocean Isle Beach playing in the marsh. She recalls, “Our morning view was the goat herd moving across the white sand dunes second only to Kill Devil Hill at Kitty Hawk each morning and evening.”
For the majority of her career she was a manager for nuclear plants. The main priority for this role was ensuring document revision controls and timely retrieval of records for 100+ years. She values hard work and always remembers what her father told her to ask herself each week: “Did I earn the salary my employer paid me this week? Your employer deserves honest work for an honest wage.” She attributes her success in her professional career by acknowledging this question.
In her spare time, Joy loves to get creative. Some of her hobbies include: Stained glass, repurposing furniture, creating costumes. She also enjoys spending time with her family. She is incredibly proud of the parents her children have become and considers them to be her greatest accomplishments in life.
