Why Volunteer?

Our volunteer team is great! It’s more than just a volunteer role its a community that you become a part of. Volunteering has proven to keep us happier and healthier. Volunteering for BSRI is easy and impactful, we work with your schedule when possible and we try to find something that will fit your specific skill set. We work with you to get to know you and what you want to get out of volunteering. Our aging population is growing insurmountably and we need volunteers to help us keep up! We hope you will join us in making Brunswick County the place to retire and help us achieve our mission of keeping seniors happy, healthy, and independent.

Meals on Wheels Delivery Team

Become part of our largest team of volunteers. Get out there in the community and deliver a meal to a senior who is homebound!

Meals are delivered Monday-Friday from 10am-12pm. Shifts vary depending on what is available.  Average time commitment- Once a week-3 hours

Center Programs Team

Volunteer at our front desk to help introduce newcomers to the center, help with various admin duties and help out around the senior center as needed.

Shifts vary depending on what is available.  Average time commitment: Once a week-3- 4 hour shift.

Meal Service Team

This team helps get meals ready for our Meals on Wheels program. Portioning meals into trays and getting bags ready for Meals on Wheels delivery volunteers. This team also can choose to stay and help serve lunch to our congregate lunch participants!

Shifts vary depending on what is available.
Average time commitment: Once a week- 3 hours

SHIIP Team

Help counsel seniors through enrolling in Medicare, changing their plans and giving them guidance! Not an expert in Medicare? Don’t worry we have a program to certify you and teach you what you need to know to provide guidance.

Time commitment is up to you! We refer clients to you, you make your schedule!

Phone Pals

Join our newly added, volunteer lead, companionship program. Take an hour out of your week to make calls to seniors who are isolated and need to hear a friendly voice!

Time commitment: Once a week 1-2 hours

Class Leaders

Become a volunteer or paid instructor to help provide programs that seniors will love! Share your talents or hobbies with everyone else in the form of a class.
